Investigating key factors influencing decision-making in the design of buildings and places: A survey of stakeholders’ perception

Abstract Despite the impact of decision-making in design buildings and places, there is limited understanding concerning how decisions are best made, or these should be evaluated optimised. Additionally, technological advancements have increased human-to-machine interactions, altering existing processes. By novel technologies affect decisions, it motivates development process, tools, metrics. The aim this paper to investigate, quantify, rank relative importance factors contributing building urban projects. A survey was conducted gain an insight stakeholders’ perceptions as which influencing affecting processes places. Ten distinct were generated , which, four ranked highly important for all stakeholder types, namely: Potential Dynamic Operation, Thoroughness, Recency Tools Control.
